The Mythology and Astrology of Superman, By Susan Vega
Superman was created in 1932 by two Jewish schoolmates growing up in Ohio. One was the Canadian artist Joseph Shuster and the other was the American writer Jerome Siegel. They tried for many years to get the idea published. Finally, in 1938 Superman appeared in Detective Comics action comics #1. It went on to other mediums- radio, television, and the movies.
Superman was born on the dying Planet Krypton. He was rocketed to Earth by his Father moments before the Planet’s destruction. He was found by an elderly couple and raised as their own. The Superman Myth parallels other cultural heroes and religious figures such as Moses, Gilgamesh. Samson. and Krishna. He was raised to have restraint, idealism and a sense of fairness and compassion for others.
